The Gillies Bay Improvement District (GBID) is a local government authority responsible for providing Waterworks, Fire Protection and Street Lighting to properties within the district’s boundaries. The GBID was incorporated by Letters Patent on July 23, 1963.

The Gillies Bay Improvement District has been providing the residents of Gillies Bay with clean, potable water, fire protection services, and street lighting, for over 50 years.

GBID currently provides water from Cranby Lake to the township of Gillies Bay, servicing a population of approximately 300 residents.

Fire Protection  by Gillies Bay Fire Department (GBFD) covers a larger area. GBFD assists Van Anda’s Fire Department when necessary.
