In 2016 the Gillies Bay Improvement District consulted with Kerr Wood and Leidal Engineering firm, who conducted a 20 year Master Water Plan. Recommended upgrades are given for the areas of :

- Water Treatment and Quality
- Life-cycle and Water Loss.
- Water Conservation and Environmental Considerations
- Customer Relations
